A major renovation on the Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City included a range of AV upgrades including a variety of Extron DTP Systems products.

System integrator TVS Pro Division of TV Specialists Inc in Salt Lake City designed and installed the new AV transmission and control system to provide multimedia content to 56 luxury suites, four clubs, the coaches’ lounge, players’ lounge and players’ locker rooms. They also installed over 600 digital signage screens.

The whole project cost US$125 million.

Extron products used include TouchLink touch panels and MediaLink pushbutton controllers at each location. They work with IP Link Pro control processors to give guests and staff intuitive control of AV systems. Other products included transmitters, receivers, switchers and distribution amplifiers that connect AV signals from content sources to the various locations throughout the arena.

TVS Pro used Extron’s free GUI designer software to create graphical user interfaces tailored for each venue to control multimedia content selection and audio volume at the locations.

TVS Pro sales and design engineer Brent Parker says: “Before the upgrade to Extron, if a television or Blu-ray player was changed out to a different model, a certified programmer was brought in to modify control system drivers. With the Extron Pro Series control system, Vivint Arena’s in-house AV technicians can do these replacements without outside assistance.”
