JBL Professional expands VTX Series with VTX B35 and VTX B35G compact cardioid subwoofers
JBL Professional has expanded its VTX Series with the VTX B35 and VTX B35G compact cardioid subwoofers, delivering controlled low-frequency performance in a compact form factor for touring and fixed installation applications.
Designed for applications where traditional cardioid subwoofer arrays are difficult to deploy, the subwoofers combine integrated cardioid performance with a space-saving design. Mechanically compatible with the VTX A12 line array system, the VTX B35 enables clean mixed-array configurations while expanding the VTX Series ecosystem with greater deployment flexibility.

At the core of the VTX B35 are three JBL Differential Drive 15” woofers arranged in a front-rear configuration, with two forward-facing drivers and one rear-facing driver. Powered independently using dedicated amplifier channels and optimised presets, the design delivers predictable cardioid directivity, helping reduce rearward energy while focusing low-frequency output toward the audience.
With low-frequency extension down to 32Hz and a high output-to-size ratio, the VTX B35 is suited to touring productions, festivals, arenas, houses of worship, performance venues and permanent installations where space, rigging capacity or architectural constraints limit conventional subwoofer deployments.
The VTX B35 integrates mechanically with VTX A12 line arrays, allowing A12 arrays to be flown directly beneath the subwoofers without requiring additional adapter frames. It’s also compatible with existing VTX A12 rigging accessories, supporting flown, standalone and hybrid deployment configurations.
For fixed installation and ground-stacked applications, JBL Professional also introduced the VTX B35G, which delivers the same acoustic performance as the VTX B35 but replaces touring-style rigging with 16 M10 Quick Link eyebolt mounting points.
The VTX B35 Series integrates with JBL Professional’s software ecosystem, including Venue Synthesis, Array Link and Performance Manager, simplifying system prediction, deployment, optimisation, monitoring and control. Integrated electronic delay steering (EDS) tools also support efficient optimisation of distributed subwoofer arrays.
Constructed from outdoor-grade Baltic birch plywood with JBL’s impact-resistant DuraFlex coating, stainless-steel grilles and corrosion-resistant hardware, both models are IP55-rated for reliable operation in demanding indoor and outdoor environments and are backed by a five-year warranty.
