CEDIA partners with NZIA to deliver smart home education for New Zealand architects

CEDIA has partnered with the New Zealand Institute of Architects (NZIA) to launch a new education initiative aimed at improving collaboration between smart home integrators and the architectural community in New Zealand.

This has led to the approval of ‘designing the Kiwi smart home’, a continuing professional development (CPD) presentation developed specifically for New Zealand architects. The program is designed to help architects better understand how residential technology can be integrated into modern homes, covering design considerations, infrastructure planning and collaboration with technology professionals.

It is the first time CEDIA has created an architect-focused education program specifically for the New Zealand market. The presentation will soon be available to CEDIA members who have completed the association’s design and build outreach program, which is designed to help integrators engage more effectively with architects, designers and other building professionals.

“This is an important milestone for the industry in New Zealand. Architects are increasingly aware that residential technology plays a critical role in how homes function, but many are still looking for clear guidance on how to plan for it effectively,” CEDIA regional development consultant – Australia and New Zealand Paul Skelton says.

“By partnering with NZIA and creating a presentation specifically for the New Zealand design community, we are giving integrators the opportunity to become trusted collaborators in the design process and ensuring that smart home infrastructure is considered from the earliest stages of a project.”
