Yamaha Unified Communications is now shipping the YVC-330 portable USB and Bluetooth speakerphone, the latest edition to the speakerphone family for virtual meeting solutions.

Featuring Yamaha’s SoundCap technology, the device is specifically engineered to convert background noise from open workspaces into a signal that makes the meeting sound as if it were in a quiet conference room. It now lets users hold spontaneous meetings anywhere including environments that have traditionally been a big no.

“Ask anyone who has tried to meet in an open environment, and they’ll tell you how difficult it is to be heard over the din in the room — from people talking to phones ringing and printers whirring — which isn’t conducive for clear, productive meetings and can be incredibly frustrating for all participants,” Yamaha Unified Communications vice president of global sales and marketing Michael Fitch says.

“For those reasons, a good meeting experience has meant hunting down and reserving a quiet, unoccupied space, which may not be feasible for spontaneous meetings. The YVC-330’s SoundCap technology was designed to make any open space — even a cafe — a truly multipurpose powerhouse, regardless of the less-than-ideal noise that may be present.”

SoundCap makes use of Far Field Noise Reduction (FFNR) technology to capture only the voices of the speakers. On top of that, the speakerphone has a self-silencing feature which detects human voices and mutes itself when it detects a non-active speaker on one end.

A self-balancing volume controller included in the SoundCap feature adjusts the sound output of voice levels which is suited for maintaining speech privacy.
