Sound United finalises Qualifi acquisition
Sound United LLC has completed its acquisition of Qualifi, the Australian distributor of Sound United-owned brands Marantz and Denon.
The acquisition also encompasses taking control of the distribution of the Polk Audio and Definitive Technology brands, also owned by Sound United, and previously distributed by Westan.

A third key element of the move was the integration of Bowers & Wilkins Australia, a wholly-owned subsidiary of B&W Group Ltd, which was purchased by Sound United LLC in October 2020. Classé Audio, another Sound United brand, also comes across with the deal.
Effective immediately, Sound United Sales & Marketing Australia is now the Australian distributor for their own brands, which includes Bowers & Wilkins, Classé, Definitive Technology, Denon, HEOS, Marantz and Polk Audio. In addition, the distribution of Blustream, Elan, Furman, SpeakerCraft and Xantech will be taken over by the new venture.
The day-to-day operations of both the Bowers & Wilkins office and the former QualiFi office and warehouse, along with relevant support services and logistics, will continue to operate as previously.
Philip Newton, CEO of the newly created entity, says: “The combined strengths of our brand portfolio brings together an enterprise of significant scale, the likes of which has rarely been seen in the specialty audio channel. Our collective resources are substantial, and we believe our customer-centric approach combined with our expertise in the premium audio channel, will ensure the local market benefits from an unprecedented level of choice and service.”
