Sony has unveiled three major additions to its BRAVIA home entertainment lineup, introducing the BRAVIA 9 II and BRAVIA 7 II televisions alongside the BRAVIA Theatre Trio wireless home cinema system.

Designed to work together as a complete cinematic ecosystem, the additions combine Sony’s latest display, audio and AI-powered entertainment technologies to deliver a more immersive home viewing experience.

At the centre of the launch is Sony’s proprietary RGB Backlight Master Drive Pro technology, which independently controls red, green and blue LEDs.

Sony’s True RGB technology uses dedicated RGB LEDs to produce greater colour purity, improved brightness and more accurate colour reproduction, even in bright viewing environments.

“Sony has been advancing LED control for over 20 years, from our first independent RGB light sources in the Qualia 005 [2004] through to our flagship Backlight Master Drive premiering in 2016,” Sony Australia head of home entertainment business unit Michael Bell says.

“Our True RGB represents a breakthrough that combines the precision of individually controlled RGB LEDs with the best aspects of both Mini LED and OLED, giving viewers purer colour, higher brightness and picture accuracy that holds up in any room.”

Sony says the combination of Contrast Booster 40 and Luminance Booster Pro allows the television to maintain accurate colour and strong contrast performance at high brightness levels, while reducing blooming commonly associated with LED displays.

The BRAVIA 9 II also introduces Immersive Black Screen Pro, a newly engineered low-reflection and glare-resistant screen treatment developed with input from Sony Pictures Entertainment to help preserve deep blacks and reveal more detail in darker scenes across a wider range of lighting environments.

The televisions also feature Google TV with Gemini integration, enabling AI-powered content discovery, voice interaction and personalised recommendations across streaming platforms and live TV services.

Created in collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment sound designers and engineers, the three-speaker system combines dedicated front left, centre and right speakers into a compact format designed to deliver a wider soundstage and improved dialogue clarity.

“When we design sound for film, every choice is about guiding what the audience feels in a moment. The BRAVIA Theatre Trio brings that same intention into the home, letting people hear the detail, movement and balance the way we meant it to be experienced,” Sony Pictures Entertainment sound designer Andrew DeCristofaro says.

The BRAVIA Theatre Trio also introduces a high-performance USB-C calibration microphone designed to improve room measurement accuracy and simplify automatic room tuning.

The system supports Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and IMAX Enhanced formats, with optional rear speakers and dual subwoofer configurations available for expanded performance.
