Signify launches Philips Skylight lighting range designed to recreate daylight indoors

Signify has introduced Philips Skylight, a ceiling lighting range designed to replicate the appearance and rhythm of natural daylight inside the home.

The lighting system uses Signify’s NatureConnect technology to recreate the brightness, depth and colour variations associated with daylight, creating the visual effect of a skylight or window to the sky.

The launch comes as research commissioned by Signify found many people feel they spend too much time indoors, with 89% of respondents reporting they feel more energetic when they receive enough daylight exposure.

“For 135 years, we have continuously evolved how lighting improves people’s lives from electric light to LED, and now towards experiences that support wellbeing, comfort and how people feel in their homes every day,” Signify Netherlands chief executive and Philips LED global business leader Hellen van der Plas says.

“As people spend more time indoors, there’s an opportunity to rethink the role lighting can play in helping people feel more connected to the natural rhythms of daylight. Skylight reflects that next step.”

The ceiling-mounted panel delivers evenly distributed illumination and incorporates an automatic day rhythm function that adjusts colour temperature and brightness throughout the day.

Using Philips BioUp LEDs, the system provides brighter, blue-enriched light during daylight hours and warmer light in the evening, with settings designed to align with natural daily lighting patterns.

Users can also select from five preset lighting scenes tailored to different activities and times of day.

Signify has also introduced the Philips Skylight VitaUp range, which incorporates a UV-B module designed to support the body’s natural vitamin D production indoors.

The VitaUp models include built-in safety features, including automatic shut-off after eight hours and manual control via a dedicated remote.
