Samsung is to buy high-end OLED panels from LG as early as from this quarter, according to a story from Reuters.

LG aims to supply two million units next year and boost shipments to three million and five million units in subsequent years, two sources have told the news agency.

Initial supplies to Samsung would likely be 77” and 83” OLED (WOLED) panels.

This is the first time Samsung has purchased OLED panels from its South Korean rival after years of rumours around similar deals.

Samsung stopped making OLED TVs in 2015, citing the high costs of the panels. Samsung instead went with its QLED TVs, a variation of LED LCD.
