Featuring 16:9 LCD screen resolution, a dedicated graphics co-processor and screen-editing software, the new Revolution colour touch screen allows users to create visually-stunning control pages, streamlining control system set-up and operation for ‘smart home’ applications and office fit-outs alike.

The new DTP170 Revolution touch screen allows users to control third-party control systems, including lighting, AV, security and HVAC systems, from a single point. Operators can create and display easy-to-use control pages, incorporating logos, buttons, faders, floor plans and diagnostic icons. Additionally, users can execute simple and complex conditional logic macros, or call up system diagnostics with a tap of the screen.

“Both homeowners and office staff want their automated systems to be user-friendly,” Philips Dynalite global application manager Terry Bonham says.

“Often, the best way of meeting such needs is to integrate all the automated services into a single system with a single user interface. Here, the DTP170 has all bases covered.”

In addition to its integrated on-board intelligence—a feature common to all Philips Dynalite technologies—the DTP170 is provided with a dedicated graphics co-processor.

“This extra processing power delivers extremely fast ‘screen draw’ times, and permits the use of high-resolution graphics,” Terry says.

“Operators can flick between graphically detailed screens almost instantaneously, making system operation quick and easy.”

Control screen page development and design has also been simplified thanks to Philips Dynalite’s new PC-based software application, Touchpanel Editor. Here, operators—even those with limited PC and design skills—can develop page layouts and macros using the easy-to-use, intuitive software. Pages can also be created using JavaScript or a standard HTML editor such as Macromedia Dreamweaver.

“You don’t need to be a computer programmer to develop control pages,” Terry says. “Those with basic PC skills will be able to develop page layout and functionality quickly and easily.”

Full internet connectivity is supported via the DTP170’s integrated Ethernet port, allowing additional functionality to be incorporated into the control pages. Here, live video can be streamed to a Windows Media Player object embedded in a control page, and audio to the touch screen’s built-in stereo speakers.

Like many of Philips Dynalite’s operator interface solutions, the DTP170 Revolution touch screen features an innovative slim-line design and a wide selection of décor-matched fascias.

“Panel fascias can be provided in practically any architectural surface medium, providing unlimited décor-matching flexibility,” Terry says. “This attention to detail combined with programming and operational flexibility, makes the new DTP170 colour touch screen a powerful tool for both home automation and office applications.”
