This is the second design award for Mainline this year.

In April, the Mainline B-Series Common Platform Adaptor also won the prestigious European Red Dot Design Award, ranking it alongside other famous designs including the iPod and the latest model Rolls-Royce Ghost. Designed in Australia, the B-Series Adaptor is a unique universal platform providing a fully scalable global platform on which all Mainline Power Adaptors and accessories will be developed. The common platform design enables rapid assembly and has expandable features that can house a replaceable fuse, LED indicator and a switch for added safety and flexibility.

Power and Data Corporation managing director Simon Toovey says, “The Australian International Design Awards are a great celebration of Australian design and innovation, and we’re really pleased to have been recognised for our design excellence on our home turf.

“The B Series was designed to respond quickly to a growing market in a cost-effective manner. Its engineering flexibility is directly linked to our strategy of business and design working together. With society becoming increasingly computer and technology-focused, the Mainline System responds directly to the need for safe, flexible and scalable access to power.”

The Mainline B-Series Adaptor range is an essential component of the Mainline power track system and can be regionalised for global use.

“The common platform means that more than 75 per cent of the adaptor’s components are the same across all regional variants, allowing for a global solution. This significantly reduces cost, turnaround time, inventories, environmental impact and makes the B Series a world first system,” Simon says.

At present, the Mainline B Series Adaptor is designed to be compliant with 10 key global regions, including China, the US, UK and Europe.
