Local help for the western Spencer Gulf to get ready for digital TV
Ian Reschke has been appointed as a digital switchover liaison officer for the western Spencer Gulf region and is based at the Whyalla City Council.
Ian will work with local organisations and community groups to raise awareness of the digital switchover and advise people how to get ready for digital-only free to air TV in the western Spencer Gulf region from 15 December.
“As the local digital switchover liaison officer, Ian will play an important role ensuring people have the information they need to get ready for digital TV,” Stephen says.

Digital Switchover Taskforce executive director Andy Townend says 69% of households in the Spencer Gulf region were digital ready in the first quarter of 2010 according to the Digital Tracker survey.
This was up by 10 percentage points on the previous quarter and up by 21 percentage points with the same quarter in 2009.
“The liaison officer will work closely with local organisations and community groups with a particular focus on those households yet to convert to Digital TV,” Andy says.
The digital switchover liaison officer position is funded by the Australian Government and hosted by the Whyalla City Council.
In addition, Stephen also announced the successful contractors to install and demonstrate digital set top boxes for eligible households in regional South Australia and Broken Hill as part of the switchover to digital TV.
Techlife, in association with Hills Industries and SkyBridge (Australia) Pty Ltd, has been selected under the Government’s Household Assistance Scheme to carry out in-home assistance for eligible households in the Riverland, Spencer Gulf and Mt Gambier and south-east of South Australia and Broken Hill switchover regions.
“For most people, making the switch to digital television is straightforward and inexpensive,” Stephen says.
“However, the Government recognises that some Australians, particularly the elderly, people with disabilities and their carers, may require assistance to switch to digital TV.
“The assistance scheme will potentially help up to 29,000 eligible households in the regional South Australia and Broken Hill television licence area to access digital TV before analog TV signals are switched off on 15 December.”
