MadisonAV brings Icron’s USB-C extender to Australia with 100m 4K single-cable connectivity

MadisonAV has unveiled the Icron Arbutus 63301, a USB-C extension platform designed to simplify connectivity in professional AV environments by delivering video, data and power over a single cable across distances of up to 100m.

The system supports DisplayPort Alt Mode video up to 4K60 4:4:4 with HDCP 2.2 compliance, USB 3.2 Gen 1 data at 5Gbps and up to 15W of USB-C power delivery, all transmitted over a single CAT 6a or CAT 7 cable.

Designed as a two-piece local and remote extender system, the Arbutus 63301 enables users to connect via a single USB-C cable without requiring additional adapters, software installation or driver configuration.

“In boardrooms, lecture theatres, broadcast studios, control rooms and government facilities, USB-C has become the universal interface, but only at arm’s length,” MadisonAV product line manager Rob Mayer says.

“Extending it across a room, a stage or a building has typically meant compromise: Multiple cables, format converters, mandatory driver installs or distance ceilings that fall well short of the architecture.”

The system is designed to remove those limitations while simplifying the user experience in high-profile spaces.

“The brief from integrators has been consistent: Stop making the user think about cables, software and distance, make USB-C just work anywhere in the room,” Rob says.

“The Arbutus 63301 does exactly that. It’s the cleanest USB-C extension story we have ever taken to market, and it is the right answer for any room where the technology cannot be the thing the audience remembers.”

The extender has been developed for environments where reliability and presentation consistency are critical, including executive briefing centres, higher education spaces, production studios and command-and-control applications.

For AV integrators and consultants, the platform also offers greater flexibility in room design, allowing presentation positions, lecterns and operator desks to be located independently of traditional USB-C cable length constraints.
