KNX technology has been included in a Super Home project which could be one of Australia’s most intelligent homes.

Located in a residential Melbourne suburb, the home is a combination of two lifestyles, which are usually considered to be mutually exclusive, off grid living and unbridled luxury.

The 3,000m² family home was designed to provide off grid living, whilst boasting an abundance of luxury through some of the worlds most advanced technology.

It was key for the home automation system to cater to the luxury the owners were accustomed to, while managing and maintaining the available energy sources.

Nominated for the ‘People’s Choice Award’, this newly completed home is a worthy contender. The winner for the award will be announced at the world’s largest light and building technology trade show, Light + Building this March.

Split over four floors, the property houses its own wine cellar, gym, 10-person cinema, spa area, golf simulator, garage, wet plant and dry plant rooms. Plus two studies, a library, family living area, kitchen and a dining room with six metre high ceilings.

It was a unique project from the start, combining the two lifestyles as well as being a fully functioning family home, taking five years from construction to complete. This enabled the home owners to identify their needs and wants to create their perfect home.

KNX was used throughout the property providing one control platform, integrating all electrical and mechanical elements harmoniously. The well thought out design and solution resulted in an efficient family home, using maximal renewable energy, while still boasting modern luxuries.
