Introducing the Steinway Lyngdorf Model P200 Surround Sound Processor
The new Model P200 Surround Sound Processor from Danish company Steinway Lyngdorf supports all the leading immersive surround sound technologies: Dolby Atmos, Auro-3D, and the recently-announced DTS:X. When integrated with the Model P200, these three technologies, can deliver a cinema-like listening experience with fully immersive audio.
Immersive surround sound installation is set to become a defining market trend in coming years. With Dolby Atmos and AURO-3D, filmmakers can now add height and top layer elements to a soundtrack for the most realistic cinema-sound listening experience ever created. The Steinway Lyngdorf Model P200 will work with these technologies in a remarkably versatile approach that allows for unlimited creativity in installations.
The Model P200 can handle multiple speaker setups, meaning you can place speakers in the exact positions recommended for any format, instead of having to place speakers in a compromised, middle-ground position. No longer will you need to switch between speaker positions for Dolby Atmos and those for Auro-3D. Instead at the touch of a button you can switch between Dolby Atmos and Auro-3D, optimising a single surround sound system for either format. This way you get to hear the immersive soundtrack just the way it was intended when mixed. With the Model P200, your system is optimised for each format, every time.

In addition to state-of-the-art surround processing, the Model P200 is 4K and 3D video ready, HDCP 2.2-compliant, and supports advanced HDMI switching, allowing any HDMI input to be routed to any HDMI output. Like its predecessor, the P1, the P200 is equipped with Steinway Lyngdorf’s RoomPerfect room-correction system and full digital signal processing that keeps the audio stream in the digital domain throughout the audio chain.
Steinway Lyngdorf, say their approach to sound reproduction is a bit different from the mainstream as they consider frequency response as secondary. They have found that impulse response, or proper time domain performance, much more important in creating a believable illusion of real three-dimensional sound. They say once you get the impulse response right, correct frequency response can always be attained. Part of the system’s magic is Lyngdorf’s RoomPerfect technology that calibrates and equalises the system within its specific environment. This can correct for any anomalies in the sound that are introduced by the room itself.
With an energy-efficient design, it automatically turns off unused amplifiers when in stereo mode and draws less than .5 W in stand-by. The new Model P200 Surround Sound Processor is designed and manufactured in Denmark and is available in matte black.
