Extron releases the DA2 HD 8K L
Extron has released the DA2 HD 8K L, an HDCP 2.3-compliant distribution amplifier for HDMI 2.1 signals.
Supporting resolutions up to 8K/30 @ 4:4:4, including 5K applications such as for Microsoft Teams 21:9 in front row installations, the dual-output distribution amplifier supports data rates up to 40.1Gbps, HDR, deep colour up to 12 bits, 3D and HD lossless audio formats. It also provides CEC capability to streamline operations.

“We are pleased to offer this highly capable 8K DA to the market,” Extron chief marketing officer Casey Hall says.
“It features special technologies to support not only 8K signal distribution but also the various combinations of resolutions, colour bit depths and refresh rates for applications requiring advanced capabilities beyond those that are supported by 18Gbps, HDMI 2.0 products.”
The DA2 HD 8K L is ideal for a wide variety of environments, from presentation spaces to esports venues, providing reliable distribution of a high data rate HDMI source signal to multiple displays.
HDMI 2.1 allows source content to be simultaneously displayed across two displays while an input cable equalisation restores and reshapes incoming HDMI signals, reducing the need for additional signal conditioning equipment by compensating for weak source signals or signal loss from a long input cable.
Colour bit depth is automatically adjusted based on the display EDID, which prevents colour compatibility conflicts between source and display. Outputs can also be muted independently, allowing video and/or audio content to be previewed on a local monitor.
Housed in a 2.5cm high, quarter rack width metal enclosure and loaded with features, the DA2 HD 8K L can be mounted in a rack or discreetly installed in a rack or beneath a table or desk. To streamline operation, the distribution amplifier can be proactively monitored, managed or controlled over a LAN or WAN using standard TCP/IP protocols.
