Epson has unveiled its ultra-short throw projector, the EH-LS970B, combining 4K projection, AI-powered image optimisation and integrated Bose audio in a premium home cinema package.

This model uses Epson’s 3LCD, 3-chip projection system alongside advanced pixel-shifting technology to deliver a full 8.3 million-pixel 4K image. Designed for large-format viewing in compact spaces, the projector can produce an image up to 150” while positioned just 28cm from the wall.

Powered by Epson’s laser optical engine, the EH-LS970B delivers 4,000 lumens of both colour and white brightness, with HDR10 support and full 10-bit HDR colour processing. Epson says the projector’s 5,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio is intended to improve shadow detail and highlight clarity for a more cinematic viewing experience.

The projector also incorporates several AI-driven image enhancement technologies, including AI super resolution for detail sharpening, AI perceptual quantisation for dynamic brightness and contrast optimisation, and de-contour processing designed to reduce visible banding and compression artefacts.

Setup has been streamlined through Epson’s Setting Assistant mobile app, available on iOS and Android, which uses a smartphone camera to automatically correct projection distortion and optimise image alignment.

The EH-LS970B also integrates Google TV and built-in Google Assistant voice control, supporting streaming services including Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video and Disney+ directly from the projector. Audio is handled through a built-in 20W 2.1-channel speaker system developed with Bose, with Bluetooth support included for additional connectivity.

Gaming has also been targeted as part of the feature set, with support for HDR at 60Hz on a 150” display, alongside a dedicated HDMI input supporting 1080p at 120Hz.

The projector’s laser light source is rated for up to 20,000 hours of operation and is designed to provide near maintenance-free performance over its lifespan.
