A new multi-purpose controller, said by its manufacturer to be a world first, has been rolled out interstate and in the Middle East and Europe.
Dynalite’s DDMC802 controller consists of eight removable channels each with a maximum load of 2A.
The device provides a range of control technologies such as phase control dimming, switched on/off relay control, ballast control, and blind and curtain control.
Dynalite segment manager (residential) Harry Simidis says the device heralds a new wave in intelligent design. Developed with the residential automation market in mind, it is also ideal for scenarios where multiple small loads require control, such as boardrooms and hotel suites.
“The beauty of it is that in the past you needed a plethora of equipment to operate various elements – such as lights, curtains and projector screens – but now you have just one dedicated controller,” Harry says.
“Say you want to play a movie, dim your lights and open your curtains, you no longer need three pieces of dedicated equipment.”
The device also allows customers to mix and match channels and outputs.
“It is a saving in terms of the space it occupies and redundancy. No channels are left ‘spare’. The base unit is populated with the precise number of channels required, eliminating unnecessary expense.”
The removable front panel provides device reset, channel override and programming without having to remove the switchboard cover and expose electrical wiring.
Harry says the housing design allows greater heat dissipation, reducing stress on internal components and providing greater load capacity in a DIN Rail device.
“This is a world-first product and it’s been selling like hot cakes. The installer fraternity absolutely love it because it gives them the flexibility they want. They have taken to it like anything. From a service point of view you can plug out a damaged component and plug in a new one.”
