Crestron Demonstrates Enhanced Apple Airplay Functionality with Sonnex at CEDIA EXPO 2012
At CEDIA US EXPO 2012, the company has been demonstrating its Sonnex Multi-room HD Audio System with Apple AirPlay support. Using AirPlay, Sonnex allows users to stream audio from an iPhone, iPad, or Macintosh computer to any room in the house without the need to switch audio sources – just hit play and it works.
With a simple swipe of a finger, anyone with an iPhone or iPad can have music playing in the room – without any interaction with a touch screen or other control device. Sonnex automatically detects audio signals and switches to the AirPlay source. The system can be programmed to switch spontaneously, or take any other action you want, without plugging anything in.
AirPlay allows wireless streaming of audio, video, and photos, together with related metadata between devices. AirPort Express is a WiFi base station that serves as a wireless internet bridge and lets users stream audio wirelessly from anywhere in the home.
Sonnex 24X8 Multi-room Audio System with exclusive One-Wire transport technology ushers in a new generation of advanced multi-room audio distribution. It fuses high performance HD digital audio processing, full matrix switching, and high-powered amplification.
“For Crestron residential integrators, this is an opportunity to deliver another ‘wow’ experience to homeowners,” said Sean Goldstein, Crestron VP of Marketing. “Our integrated solution provides the best user experience, enabling them to enjoy their entire iTunes library in any room, anytime, while never having to switch audio sources at the receiver.”
Local release dates are yet to be confirmed.
