Cleerline launches slimmer 2mm fibre patch cords to meet growing bandwidth demands

Cleerline Technology Group, distributed by Audio Visual Distributors in Australia, has introduced a range of ultra-durable 2mm fibre optic patch cords, designed to reduce cable bulk while supporting increasing bandwidth demands across commercial and residential installations.

The SSF 2mm patch cords are approximately 30% thinner than conventional fibre patch leads, enabling lower-profile installations in space-constrained environments without sacrificing strength or performance.

“With the demand for increased bandwidth we are seeing on both commercial and residential installations to accommodate 4K and 8K video, the increased applications for AI, as well as an explosion of connected devices, integrators must consider the benefits of a fibre optic infrastructure on behalf of their clients,” Cleerline president Ryan Prentice says.

“Our 2mm fibre patch cords are pre-terminated and pre-tested to exceed industry standards for insertion loss and reflectance, placing the ultimate time and space-saving solution in the hands of installers.”

The patch cords are built using Cleerline’s SSF fibre, which claims to be significantly more robust than traditional fibre, offering substantially higher resistance to bending and impact. The cables are designed to withstand tight routing and more demanding installation conditions, positioning them for use in mission-critical environments where reliability is essential.

Pre-terminated construction is also intended to reduce installation time, while the smaller cable diameter supports improved cable management in dense racks and enclosures.

The range is available with LC and SC connectors, in both UPC and APC polish types and can be ordered in standard or custom lengths.

Cleerline also highlights its web-based patch cable configurator, which allows integrators to design, quote and order customised fibre patch cords by selecting cable type, connector style, length and other specifications through a guided interface. All assemblies are tested prior to shipping to meet or exceed industry performance standards.
