CEDIA expands online education program for Australia and New Zealand
CEDIA has unveiled a series of online education programs tailored for smart home integrators and installers across Australia and New Zealand, delivering advanced technical training, certification preparation and cybersecurity education in a fully virtual format.
Among the offerings is Advanced Rack Building, to be delivered online on 29 April. Originally launched at the 2025 CEDIA Tech Summit, the course will be led by Michael Daly of Wired by MJD and Stuart Robertson of Sound Living. The session is designed to move beyond foundational skills, equipping participants to design, construct, document and maintain professional-grade equipment racks. It will cover assessing project requirements, selecting equipment, calculating power and heat loads, planning cable schedules, creating documentation and developing long-term maintenance strategies.

CEDIA will also launch its first Australia and New Zealand–focused cabling and infrastructure technician (CIT) study group, commencing 24 April. The seven-week program will run for one hour per week and is structured to prepare participants for the CIT certification exam. Mentors include David Meyer of Meyer Projects, Brendon Reid of Automation Associates, Paul Wooller of Open Inc and Michael Daly. Each week will focus on a separate certification domain in a structured, discussion-based format, with class sizes capped at ten participants. Tickets include the full study program, a copy of the CIT textbook and an exam voucher.
On 23 June, Jeff Sonnleitner will present his cybersecurity course in a dedicated virtual session for Australia and New Zealand integrators. Previously delivered at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) and CEDIA Expo, the session will focus on identifying vulnerabilities in residential networks, strengthening system security and implementing best practices to protect clients and businesses.
CEDIA regional development consultant – Australia and New Zealand Paul Skelton says the programs are designed to improve access to high-level education across the region.
“These programs are about ensuring integrators in Australia and New Zealand have access to world-class education without needing to leave the region. From advanced technical skill-building to certification preparation and cybersecurity awareness, we are focused on supporting professionals at every stage of their career,” he says.
“Strong education pathways translate directly into better project outcomes, increased professionalism and greater confidence in front of clients. Our goal is to make that support more accessible than ever.”
