Boutique AV was approached by a music-loving client who lived on a two-week FIFO (fly-in, fly-out) rotating schedule, which made for an abundance of time spent in the house during “off” weeks.

To enjoy this time to the fullest, the client and his wife requested a bespoke audio system as loud as a rock concert that wouldn’t compromise audio fidelity. BoutiqueAV demonstrated some of the finest speaker brands and models on the market to the couple, but none were able to match their high expectations.

It became evident that the solution was unlikely to be found within the traditional HiFi industry, and instead, they would need to look into PA-type speakers. Ultimately, the clients decided on the PMC MB3 XBD-A, a speaker capable of achieving 129dB SPL at 1m with no noticeable distortion.

After exploring the concepts of what the sound room could be with their clients, BoutiqueAV drew their attention to how amazing the quality of live concerts is through remastered Blurays with HD audio. This created a new requirement to complement the room with a multi-channel system and projector.

Despite their obvious love for the latest AV technologies, these clients still possess a love for the classics, and are proud owners of many records. He requested a high-end turntable so he could enjoy details only found on an LP.

And while it is impossible to understand just what this room is capable of from a few pictures, CEDIA’s judges felt confident that, based on the description alone, that this room, titled ‘Another Dimension’, “must sound pretty special!”
