At InfoComm, AMX also announced two new HydraPort Dual USB Modules that offer the convenience of two USB modules in a 1 HydraPort unit size for connecting to a network and/or charging devices.

Early in the design phase of the new Retractor Modules, AMX realised the answer to a better solution was the cable itself. Too many competitors chose to use off the shelf cables that were never designed to be rolled up. Instead, AMX designed new cables that ensure efficient, trouble‐free retraction and AV fidelity that exceeded that of standard cables. And if general functionality and ease of use weren’t enough, AMX retractor modules also handily beat the competition in overall size by being 85% more compact.

Each of the four new retractor modules support a specific AV format (HDMI, DisplayPort, Ethernet and RGB with Audio) and can be installed in any of the 600 900 or 1200 HydraPort base assemblies.

AMX is also making these same flat cables available for additional use under carpet or anywhere a flat cable is desired.

The announcement of two new Dual USB HydraPort Modules reinforces AMX support of the popularity of BYOD environments by doubling the number of USB ports in a simple module and maximising HydraPort real estate while lowering cost. For applications where both network connectivity and charging are needed, the Dual USB module with printed USB Symbol will be available. For applications where full USB power charging for mobile devices is required, the Dual USB module with printed charging symbol module will be available.
