Ai-Media is a global provider of captioning, transcription, translation and audio description services and its solutions were on display at Integrate 2022. The company’s technology combines AI and human intelligence to deliver a high level of captioning for education, corporate, broadcast and government sectors.

As integrators are working increasingly more in education and commercial settings, helping enable digital offerings that may not have existed a few years ago, there’s a need to provide captioning for both ease of use and accessibility of content.

Ai-Media vice president, APAC, John Peck says that another reason the company decided to join Integrate 2022 is because of the number of attendees from the broadcast and event space: “We have a lot of products here that like take live video, can take the audio and then put captions into that and give it back in a seamless kind of way.

“For event organisers who don’t want to have to deal with Zoom calls, it’s a simple way to introduce our plug-and-play solution.”

John mentioned the work Ai-Media was doing in the education space, mentioning the need to make recorded content like lectures or live classes, as interactive as possible.

“Increasingly, what we’re seeing is that, since COVID and the lack of international students, it has put a lot of pressure on university budgets. So, universities are looking for ways to monetise the assets that they have and what we bring can help with that,” John says.

“And then related to that, a lot of the students are studying virtually and they have students in China, India or throughout Asia, but from their home countries. So, making the content accessible through you know, English captioning, where an Australian accent might not be the easiest to understand all the time.”

Outside of educational use, John says that a lot of government events are trying to make a push toward accessibility and Ai-Media’s instant captioning is an excellent complement to a sign language translator.
