Lutron Electronics has launched the Palladiom drapery, an automated exposed-rod system designed to bring motorised curtains into the same design language as the Lutron’s Palladiom roller shades and controls.

Palladiom drapery is designed around a slender unibody rod that conceals most of the automation hardware within the system. The result is intended to retain the appearance of a traditional exposed drapery rod while adding automated movement and integration with Lutron’s control ecosystem.

“For the first time, designers can extend the Palladiom experience across both roller shades and drapery, creating a more cohesive approach to window treatments throughout the home,” Lutron senior director of architectural markets Cecilia Ramos says.

The system is built from lightweight, rigid aluminium to provide the structural strength required to support heavier fabrics while maintaining a slim profile.

For integrators, the product adds another automated window treatment option to Lutron’s broader ecosystem, while giving designers more flexibility when specifying soft furnishings alongside lighting and control systems.

Palladiom drapery is available in five finishes: Pure White, Black Anodised, Clear Anodised, Bronze Anodized and Satin Nickel. It can also be specified with three end treatment options: End Bracket, End Cap and Finial.

The finial option has been developed in partnership with Swarovski, with the two companies creating a custom-cut crystal intended to complement the machined aluminium component.

Interior designer and independent Lutron shades stylist Arianne Bellizaire says automated window treatments could add warmth and texture to interiors without compromising the design intent.

“Window treatments have the power to bring warmth, texture and movement to a space. Palladiom drapery allows those elements to be incorporated without sacrificing the thoughtful detailing and understated elegance that define the Palladiom aesthetic,” she says.

Palladiom drapery is designed for both new-build and renovation projects, extending a product family that began with Palladiom keypads and has since expanded into roller shades and other control accessories.

The addition of drapery gives integrators another way to create a consistent visual approach across automated lighting, shading and control installations, particularly in high-end residential environments where technology is expected to blend into the architecture rather than dominate it.
