Kordz Australia launches R.4 48Gbps HDMI cable for rack and marine installations
Kordz Australia has launched the R.4 48Gbps Rack and Marine Passive HDMI Cable, a compact Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) solution designed for high-density equipment racks and vibration-prone marine applications.
The R.4 supports the full 48Gbps bandwidth specified by HDMI 2.1b, enabling uncompressed 8K video and features including eARC, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Quick Media Switching (QMS).

Kordz Australia product manager Josh Yammouni says the R.4 was developed around the specific challenges faced by integrators working in dense racks and marine environments.
“R.4 gives Australian integrators a 48Gbps HDMI cable designed specifically around the realities and challenges faced in dense racks and marine installations,” he says.
The cable uses compact die-cast connectors and a slimmer profile to simplify cable management in equipment racks, while lengths are available in 0.3m increments from 0.3m to 3m. The shorter and more precise length options are intended to support cleaner cable dressing, improved airflow and more efficient routing.
For electrically noisy environments, the R.4 features a full metal internal casing and a 95% copper braid shield over a 125% coverage aluminium foil shield, providing enhanced protection against electromagnetic interference.
Marine installations are supported by a 2kg retention HDMI connector designed to resist vibration and movement. The cable’s LSZH construction also complies with IEC60332, IEC60754 and IEC61034 standards.
Josh says the cable builds on the R.3 platform while introducing improvements aimed at demanding installations: “Its compact construction, secure connector retention and enhanced shielding all support cleaner installations and greater confidence in environments where access, unpredictable movement and electrical interference can create additional risk.”
Each R.4 cable is individually tested and certified to the DPL Labs Enhanced 48Gbps Reference Standard, providing additional verification of its performance and reliability for professional AV applications.
