Christie has released Spyder-S 6.1, the latest version of its Spyder-S video processing platform, introducing expanded connectivity, simplified system management and enhanced creative capabilities for live events and fixed installations.

Designed for rental and staging, corporate events, broadcast, sports venues and large-scale entertainment productions, the update helps users manage increasingly complex visual environments while supporting larger canvases, greater source flexibility and more efficient workflows.

Built on a modular, distributed architecture, the Spyder-S platform scales from a single 1RU frame to 16 linked frames, supporting more than 200 million pixels on a single canvas without changing software or workflows. The architecture is designed to provide greater scalability and flexibility while reducing the total cost of ownership.

Spyder-S 6.1 introduces two hardware options to expand system connectivity, including a DisplayPort 1.4 Frame supporting background inputs up to 7680 x 2160 at 60Hz and an SFP Frame supporting 12G-SDI, HDMI 2.0 and fibre connectivity for long-distance signal transport.

The release also includes an enhanced configuration manager and expanded internal and external control capabilities to simplify system setup and operation. New testing tools, background and mix effect (ME) source monitoring and additional safeguards help improve confidence during live switching and reduce operational complexity.

Spyder-S 6.1 further enhances the platform’s creative capabilities by enabling background rendering without consuming processing layers, while source mixing now requires only a single layer instead of two. This frees additional processing capacity for larger canvases, more content and increasingly sophisticated visual presentations.

Powered by FPGA technology and purpose-built hardware, Spyder-S delivers deterministic low-latency performance for demanding live production environments, supporting applications ranging from rental and staging to permanent installations and broadcast facilities.
