Connecting all your home entertainment sources and presenting them in HD is facilitated by a discrete amplifier configuration and 192 kHz/24-bit Burr-Brown DACs for all channels, while 4K Ultra HD pass-through presents the future of high-resolution video.

Adding to its new feature set, Extra Bass delivers powerful audio performance even when using small speakers, and a new Virtual CINEMA FRONT mode that immerses audiences in surround sound without the need for speakers positioned around and behind the listener.

“Virtual CINEMA FRONT is an exciting new technology that we have incorporated into all models of the ’77 Series,” Yamaha Music Australia’s AV division product manager Justin d’Offay explains.

“The perfect solution for open plan living spaces or in instances where having speakers positioned around the room is not a viable option, Virtual CINEMA FRONT brings the thrill of surround sound to an entirely new audience.”

Promoting convenience and ease-of-use, the free-to-download AV Controller app provides intuitive control from iOS and Android phones and tablets. New to the ’77 Series, the AV Controller now also facilitates fine tuning of Yamaha’s acclaimed DSP sound programs with visual adjustment of parameters to suit the user’s preference or to complement the type of music/movie.

Building on this repertoire of features, the RX-V577 Network AV Receiver is the first in the series to offer a 7.2 channel configuration while also promoting simplified network connectivity with built-in Wi-Fi. The integration of Wi-Fi on the RX-V577 removes the requirement for cables and/or adaptors to connect the receiver to a wireless home network. Even in the absence of Wi-Fi, wireless connection of a phone or tablet can be achieved via the new Wi-Fi Direct feature that enables features such as app control, AirPlay and DLNA music streaming.

Both AV receivers provide 6 HDMI inputs and 1 HDMI output, a multi-language on-screen display and YPAO auto calibration. High-resolution audio including FLAC and WAV 192 kHz/24-bit and Apple Lossless 96 kHz/24-bit playback is supported as well as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding.

The release of the RX-V477 and RX-V577 Network AV Receivers coincides with the announcement of two new Blu-ray players from the’77 Series. The BD-S477 exhibits a low-profile design with Wi-Fi built-in and intuitive operation afforded by Yamaha’s AV Controller app. Miracast is a new feature which adds to the video streaming capabilities of the BD-S477 from PCs and NAS (Network-Attached Storage) devices, enabling media to be
mirrored from compatible smartphones and tablets.

The BD-S677 expands upon connectivity with a suite of analogue and digital audio outputs, SACD playback, and advanced network features including YouTube Leanback and Dropbox compatibility for seamless access to media stored via the web-based service.

The RX-V477 and BD-S477 will be available in Black and Titanium finishes, ensuring customers can match their AV receiver and Blu-ray player with other components in their system. Release and pricing stipulated below.
