What is home networking?
This is a residential local area network that can be used for communication between computers or laptops in the home, as well as printers and set-top-boxes. Over the network they have two-way signaling and can communicate, exchange data, share an internet connection or play games.
A home network can consist of a broadband modem and a router that’s connected to the modem and the rest of the network, which in turn lets multiple devices connect to the internet at the same time. It can also include multiple computers or laptops, a wireless access point to connect wireless devices, entertainment outlets, or a network bridge to connect two networks together.
One of the major advantages of home networking in a house with multiple computers is that internet access can be provided to all the relevant computers, even if only one computer is physically connected to the internet via a modem. File sharing is also another advantage, as it provides an effective storage solution to the build-up of old files over time.
