CEA’s Mark of Excellence Awards honoured Sunfire for outstanding achievement and innovation in trend-setting custom home electronics. Award entries were reviewed by a panel of industry experts and submitted in two categories: supplier and systems integrators.

Building on Sunfire’s expertise in producing big sound from small places, the HRS SAT-4 and HRS-SAT4C Center are the perfect complement to Sunfire’s award winning HRS subwoofer line. They feature the company’s coveted High Back-emf, long-throw woofers and can handle up to 200W per channel.

Sunfire general manager Mark Weisenberg says, “Sunfire is known for its ability to project big sound from small places and we proudly continue in that tradition with our HRS satellite speaker system. We are elated that the MOE panel has recognised what our dealers have been telling us from the beginning – that the HRS sats are in a class all their own.”

The HRS speakers and subwoofers are in stock now for immediate delivery in gloss black. The sats, center, and HRS-8 subwoofer are also available in a satin cherry finish.

The HRS satellite and center models may be used on a shelf, mounted to a wall, or floor standing. For the latter, optional form-fitting stands are available featuring a piano-gloss finish and extruded aluminum column.

Based on Sunfire’s renowned subwoofer expertise, the HRS Sats’ 4.5-inch High Back-emf woofer utilizes a Trifilar voice coil design that incorporates three, dual voice coils rolled into one. Lighter in weight, this unique design delivers up to an 80% increase in output when compared with conventional voice coils. The woofer’s cone is made of lightweight, yet strong Kevlar, resulting in tight bass and quick transient response.

A cast aluminum basket serves as a solid foundation for the woofer’s 1″ maximum excursion – that’s up to four times greater excursion than conventional woofers its size. The entire woofer is magnetically shielded to reduce interference with CRT-based displays.

Both HRS speaker models utilize a high performance 1″ ring-radiating, silk-dome tweeter with extended high frequency response and smooth off-axis dispersion. This tweeter is similar to those found in expensive audiophile speakers costing many times its price. Its “vented chamber” and integrated heat sink provide enormous power handling without distortion.

HRS Subwoofers (in 8″, 10″ and 12″ models) feature two of Sunfire’s most coveted technologies: High Back-emf, long-throw woofers for extremely high output; and the company’s legendary Tracking Downconverter power supply, which provides cool, reliable and efficient operation. MSRP in each for HRS subs are: HRS-8, HRS-10 and HRS-12 .

Sunfire’s High Resolution Speaker System was recognised at the Mark of Excellence Awards Dinner in March, in conjunction with the tenth annual Electronic House Expo (EHX) Spring 2009.

Each year manufacturers, distributors and systems integrators enter to compete in award categories for this coveted honor. Each of the TechHome Mark of Excellence Awards categories has a four-member judging team comprised of systems integrators, manufacturers, members of the trade press and industry consultants to determine both finalists and winners.
