Stewart Filmscreen supplies screens for 83rd Academy Awards show
For the 83rd Academy Awards, Stewart provided six screens; the principal upstage screen (Filmscreen 100) main screen (SnoMatte 100) and two travelling screens (SnoMatte 100) as well as the two house screens (AeroView 100).
The principle downstage flying centre screen used to display nominated and archival content has a seamless image area of 25′ 2″ X 43’10” with an AT3M seamless frame and was the largest screen used at the awards show to date. This screen utilises the FilmScreen 100 flexible rear projection screen material that is available in seamless sizes up to 40 feet by 90 feet and is formulated with a neutral density gray tint for enhanced contrast. FilmScreen 100 was chosen for the Academy Awards as it offers a very wide viewing angle for large seating configurations and is an excellent performer in venues with some ambient light present.
There was projection throughout the venue; in addition to the large 25′ 2″ X 43’10” screen, the production utilised six additional Stewart screens, all programmed and operated by SenovvA Inc., under the supervision of David C. Taylor.
