Sony unveils two new native 4K home cinema projectors
Sony has released two new native 4K home cinema projectors which feature advanced processing and HDR enhancement.
Dubbed the VPL-VW890ES and VPL-VW290ES, the two deliver an immersive viewing experience with the powerful “X1 for projector” processor. The powerful picture processor is based on technology used for Sony’s BRAVIA TV range is optimised for projectors.

The VPL-VW890ES combines innovative technologies for high-precision frame analysis, enabling unique features like dynamic HDR enhancer and reality creation. The 2,200lm laser model also boasts a premium All-Range Crisp Focus (ARC-F) lens and the 1,500lm lamp model with a range of immersive viewing experiences.
Both it and the VPL-VW290ES come with Sony’s Unique Super Resolution ‘Reality Creation’ technology. The X1 analyses each scene to enrich 4K content and real-world detail and texture which lets even content filmed in 2K or Full HD scale close to 4K.
The VPL-VW890ES features edge-to-edge image quality, delivering ARC-F pristine image quality across the entire screen.
A large lens uses an all-glass design for its 18 elements, including six extra-low dispersion (ELD) elements.
