Available in 46” and 55” screen sizes, the BRAVIA HX850 also offers new levels of connectivity with other devices such as tablets, smartphones and the company’s upcoming Google TV set-top-box.

Sony Australia managing director Carl Rose says, “We’ve done our research and we know that while the advent of Smart TV is changing the way we watch TV, the number one consideration when choosing a TV to buy is still outstanding picture quality – something we will never compromise on. Sony delivers our best picture quality ever with the BRAVIA HX850, while ensuring Smart TV content and connectivity to multiple devices rounds out this package.”

Sony Australia general manager of marketing Nicolas Barendson says, “We’ve made selecting a TV as simple as possible by streamlining our range to nine models. Our TVs are made by entertainment lovers, for entertainment lovers. Our focus is on delivering a premium, top-quality entertainment experience, no matter the content – whether you’re watching 3D, internet video or regular programming. Using our TVs is simple as well. We’ve made accessing all of our ‘Smart TV’ features like catch-up TV, Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited as easy as the press of one button on your remote.

“We have a wide variety of content available for our connected BRAVIA TVs today, and will continue to add more significant channels, apps and partnerships in the future – providing increasing value to the BRAVIA owner.”

Picture quality promise

Sony is well known for its heritage in developing industry-leading TVs and picture quality. Ushering in a new era in its picture quality, the BRAVIA HX850 comes with Sony’s X-Reality PRO and Motionflow XR technologies.

The X-Reality PRO processing chip monitors the type of program on screen and adjusts the picture accordingly to ensure the optimum viewing experience. Perfect for fast-paced sports action, Sony’s Motionflow XR technology reduces blur caused by quick camera movements and enhances picture sharpness to create a smoother picture. X-Reality PRO also brings picture quality to 3D content, with 3D Super Resolution resulting in sharper and smoother pictures in 3D.

Launching alongside the 2012 BRAVIA range are Sony’s new 3D glasses (TDG-BR750). Backwards compatible with previous BRAVIA models, these active 3D glasses are made of titanium and are lightweight.

Access to on-demand entertainment

Connecting BRAVIA HX850 or any model in the new range to the internet also gives access to Sony Entertainment Network which features 29 Smart TV channels, including over 7,000,000 songs with Music Unlimited’s subscription service, on-demand blockbuster movies from Video Unlimited, the Quickflix movie service and a host of apps including Skype, Twitter and Facebook. Catch-up TV services available on Sony’s compatible BRAVIA range now include Yahoo!7, SBS and ABC iView. Sony also announced it will be the first company to offer a catch-up service from TEN.

Connect me

Connectivity is a key feature in the latest BRAVIA range with all models boasting Wi-Fi capability and the ability to share content across other devices including Sony Tablets, smartphones and other DLNA enabled devices. This level of compatibility allows you to “throw” content to your BRAVIA TV –you can send files from your smartphone or tablet wirelessly so they appear on your TV screen.

Take control of the BRAVIA TV by turning your iPhone, iPad or Android device into an intelligent remote control so you can navigate between different channels, pause videos and even surf the Net. Downloading Sony’s “Media Remote App” also makes your smartphone a second screen with detailed information on YouTube videos and more. Give it a shake and get information on the music track playing on screen.

The BRAVIA HX850 and the entire BRAVIA range will be available for purchase from mid-May.
