The Sonos Architectural by Sonance, a collection of installed passive speakers for indoor and outdoor use designed and optimised for Sonos Amp was announced today by Sonos. Also available for pre-order are Sonos In-Wall by Sonance and Sonos In-Ceiling by Sonance.

General availability will begin on 26 February and availability for Sonos Outdoor by Sonance will be in April.

The partnership between Sonos and Sonance began with the shared objective of producing speakers that disappear into any space while providing clear sound, even coverage, high-quality performance and ease of use.

Sonos chief executive Patrick Spence says the goal was to bring the Sonos experience to architectural speakers.

“Sonance was the natural partner, sharing our passion for high quality, reliable sound solutions inside and outside the home.”

When paired with Sonos Amp, the In-Ceiling and In-Wall speakers’ unique hardware signature unlocks Trueplay tuning technology which accounts for the size, construction and furnishings of the room where the speakers are placed, and automatically adjusts the EQ for optimal sound.

The Outdoor speaker is the first Sonos speaker designed for outdoor use, it features a weatherproof design and is engineered to withstand a wide variety of environmental conditions.

Sonance chief executive Ari Supran says Sonance is excited about the partnership especially in relation to bringing  the first architectural speakers with Trueplay to market.

“Sonos represents the pinnacle in distributed audio user experiences and we are thrilled to help extend that experience to installations where hiding technology into architecture is desired.”

Up to three pairs of Sonos Architectural by Sonance speakers can be powered by a single Sonos Amp.  Also, all Sonos Architectural by Sonance speakers feature dynamic bass processing to enhance low frequencies for a richer listening experience.

Sonos also announced that the all-new Amp, its powerful and versatile home amplifier, will be available for purchase in Australia from 6 February.
