High speed, high bandwidth fibre connectivity will provide additional installation flexibility across all vertical markets for Savant customers. Both 4-port HDMI-over-fiber input and output service cards will be offered (models VIM-F004 and VOM-F004), which handle HD video with Deep Colour 3D and HDCP. Data is transmitted over one simplex multimode fibre enabling wire distances up to 1000 feet. Savant is also introducing the HRX-F001, a single port HDMI over fibre receiver that delivers a simple interface solution for a single display device as part of a complete Savant SmartMedia Pro system.

“Fibre is a stable, typically low noise alternative to Cat 5 that increases speed and bandwidth over long distances while reducing the bulk of cable runs throughout an installation,” explains Savant chief executive Robert Madonna.

“Savant’s new HDMI over fibre modules will provide strong benefit to installers for both residential and commercial applications,” Madonna concluded.

Savant’s fibre connectivity solutions will become available early Q1, 2012.
