Quantum Data HDMI 2.0 protocol analyser module for 980 test platform
The 980 HDMI 2.0 Protocol Analyzer captures and decodes HDMI 2.0 streams t. Data islands, infoframes, control data, audio sample packets as well as CEC and DDC transactions (HDCP and EDID) are captured and stored for analysis. The module provides pre-capture filtering and triggering to ensure that you capture the specific subset of data you are interested in. You can trigger on a variety of conditions or events that occur in the various data types.
Once the data is captured, the 980 Manager presents the data in an easy to understand way through its graphical user interface. The decoded data is depicted at a high level view in the Event Plot panel and at a lower level view in the Data Decode panel. The Event Plot provides a timeline view of the various data types in relation to one another.
The Data Decode panel provides a detailed sequential log with precise time stamps of each data transaction or event. It shows the data both in hexadecimal and in human readable text. You can apply post-capture filters on the Data Decode panel to view only the data you are interested in. You can also search through the data for specific events and values.

The 980 also provides analyser utilities for verifying the video timing, pixel values and the consistency of the audio metadata. These utilities provide at-a-glance insights into conditions that could result in interoperability problems. Identifying interoperability problems early in the product life cycle is critical for meeting quality standards and time to market.
The data captures can be exported and shared with other subject matter experts at various locations. These colleagues can view the captured data using the 980 GUI Manager application available for free on the Quantum Data website; they do not need the 980B test instrument to view this data.
The 980 HDMI 2.0 Protocol Analyzer module supports several HDMI 2.0 source compliance Test IDs in accordance with the HDMI 2.0 CTS. Compliance testing supported by the module is an ideal solution for self-testing (when permitted) or pre-testing prior to submission to the AuthoriSed Test Centers. Self-testing avoids the need for submission to an ATC thereby accelerating time to market and reducing costs.
The Quantum Data Auxiliary Channel Analyzer (ACA) application enables monitoring of EDID exchanges, HDCP authentication transactions and SCDC register status between the module and a connected HDMI 2.0 source device. The DDC traces can be monitored in real time through the 980B’s embedded touch display and the files can be saved for later viewing or shared with colleagues at other locations.
