Quantum Data announces availability of EDID Library
Several customers and industry professional organisations have asked Quantum Data to provide an EDID library to facilitate testing and help reduce interoperability problems in the field.
One industry expert at the recent CEDIA Expo stated, “EDIDs account for most of the HDMI interoperability problems in the field.”
Quantum Data’s EDID library offers a set of known-good EDIDs with a variety of common capabilities as well as specific models from HDTV manufacturers. But the library also supports irregular testing by offering EDIDs with a variety of anomalies “modeled” EDIDs.

Manufacturers of projectors, HDTVs, displays, PC monitors as well as AV receivers and other types of sink devices are invited and encouraged to contribute to the EDID library by sending EDIDs from their devices to Quantum Data using the tools available on the Quantum Data EDID Library webpage. This enables manufacturers of sink devices to gain a greater degree of assurance that their EDIDs will interoperate with the multitude of source devices that are commercially available.
Quantum Data is well known in the industry for its EDID expertise. The 882 Video Test Instrument’s EDID sink compliance test tool is approved for use in the HDMI, LLC Authorized Test Centres and is listed in the HDMI Compliance Test Specification. The 980 HDMI Protocol Analyzer offers an EDID compliance test utility for HDMI products and devices. The 780 Handheld Test Instrument supports basic EDID verification of HDMI devices.
The Quantum Data 780, 980 and 882 test instruments are capable of emulating any HDMI EDID. The new EDID Library provides owners of these test instruments with the necessary variety of EDIDs for extensive testing. Additionally these instruments are equipped with a rich set of EDID utilities such as creating and modifying EDIDs, acquiring EDIDs from sink devices and storing them for reuse in testing.
