Developed to celebrate QED’s 40 years at the forefront of UK speaker cable design and utilising technologies used in both Genesis and X-TubeTM cables, QED Ruby Anniversary Evolution is an outstanding loudspeaker cable, which in keeping with QED’s philosophy of offering uncompromising performance at real world prices.

The advanced geometry used in Ruby Anniversary Evolution has the combined effect of reducing the cable’s overall impedance (below that which would be expected of a traditional speaker cable of the same cross-sectional area) from DC right up to 100kHz. In particular, the individual parallel conductor geometry, combined with its hollow central core, creates a cable with very low inductance. This substantially reduces what is known to be the ‘skin effect’ and ensures that the vast majority of the cable’s 3.2mm2 cross-sectional area is used throughout the audio spectrum, resulting in a speaker cable design that exudes sonic neutrality, allowing good hi-fi and home cinema equipment to perform at its very best.

The Ruby Anniversary Evolution is a conventional ‘figure 8’ configuration, attractively finished with each of its ten 99.999% pure copper cores visible through a flexible 5.0mm diameter, clear polyethylene outer sheath. For ease of assembly and to ensure correct speaker phasing, the positive cable is clearly marked and the whole cable is easily stripped to prepare it for termination.

For optimum termination of Ruby Anniversary Evolution, QED recommends the use of its AIRLOCTM loudspeaker plugs or spade terminals. QED AIRLOCTM is a solder-free, airtight perfect fusion between the two metals of cable and plug. This ‘cold weld’ method allows cable and plug to offer the optimum signal transfer and therefore, better sound reproduction. This ‘cold weld’ method also reduces contact resistance, and ensures perfect long-term performance.
