QED releases 40th Anniversary editions of Signature and Reference analogue interconnect cables
Designed specifically for the transmission of analogue audio signals, Signature Audio 40 and Reference Audio 40 cables, are the result of extensive empiric scientific research undertaken by QED engineers. Both products are a radical redesign, with both products boasting features never before incorporated into QED cables. They deliver a level of sonic performance previously only available from far more expensive designs.
In addition to the clear leap in performance resulting from the newly designed ‘AnalocTM’ phono plugs, these new QED interconnects include ‘asymmetric’ cable geometry for their Silver Plated, 99.999% Pure Oxygen Free Copper multi-stranded conductors as well as a ‘floating’ ferrite jacket.
The former assists the three dimensional sonic imagery (soundstage) by minimising micro timing errors; while the latter is one of the three layers of electrical isolation which totally protect the cable from HF interference.”
The cordage, similar for both cables, is designed primarily for low capacitance, as this was identified by QED engineers as an important factor contributing to a ‘high fidelity’ experience. It helps to deliver a highly dynamic sound, whilst retaining the rhythm, excitement, and most importantly, the emotion of the original performance.

Designed for the true audiophile who does not accept compromises in performance, Signature Audio 40 shares these new technology with Reference Audio 40, and also benefits from cryogenically treated cores (prior to assembly) as well as the addition of an ultra high performance
Teflon insulator. The inclusion of these technologies further reduces the overall capacitance and dissipation factor in Signature Audio 40.
Both Signature Audio 40 and Reference Audio 40 cables are also the first products to use the new QED ‘Analoc™’ close tolerance, locking RCA phono plugs, with insulated zinc-plated brass barrels.
‘Reference Audio 40’ has a gold-plated model, whilst ‘Signature Audio 40’ has a Rhodium-plated variant.
High purity 99.999% oxygen free copper contacts are used throughout and the design features ‘low eddy current’ body and ground connections as well as a hollow central pin. All these features are designed to minimise interference to the analogue signal. This attention to detail even extends
to the strain relief grub screw, optimally located to ensure it doesn’t distort the cable’s geometry.
