PURE Australasia Sensia adds DAB+ slideshow
With DAB+ slideshow now available from commercial and national radio stations in the Australian mainland capital cities, listeners will be able to tune into their favourite digital radio stations on the PURE Sensia and see slides showing the latest news grabs, competitions, view photos of presenters and artists as well as general information such as weather, travel and promotional updates.
Following on from the Australian launch of digital radio last year, which saw an immediate increase in on-air content and improved reception quality, DAB+ slideshow adds a new dimension to radio listening, synchronising visual imagery to radio broadcasts.
“DAB slideshow is a fantastic part of digital radio’s offering in Australia. Injecting a visual element into new receivers gives us endless opportunities,” Austereo Network digital content director Jaime Chaux says.

“Receivers like the Pure Sensia will mean listeners can have a closer experience with their favourite shows. It also presents great new ways for stations and advertisers to get their messages to listeners. The growth of digital radio in Australia continues.”
To truly appreciate DAB+ slideshow, consumers will need to invest in a digital radio with a quality display. Equipped with a 14cm, 640 x 480 high resolution display, the PURE Sensia has the largest full-colour touch screen display of any radio product in the world to date. The display view on the Sensia is versatile, allowing users to view slideshow content in either a multi-panel or full screen view.
In addition to already offering extensive on-air and online enjoyment, including digital, FM and internet radio, the arrival of DAB+ slideshow adds to a growing list of extra features on the PURE Sensia, including access to custom PURE ‘apps’ such as weather, Facebook, Twitter and IP (Radio VIS) slideshow.
PURE will be releasing an SDK (Software Developers Kit) later this year to enable third party developers to build apps for this new visual platform in radio,” PURE Australasia managing director Graeme Redman says.
DAB+ slideshow will also be available in all countries implementing digital radio under the DAB family platform including countries currently using this standard such as the UK, Norway, Germany and Switzerland and countries that are now planning the adoption of the DAB platform.
