PowerShades, provider of manual and automated window shades for residential and commercial applications introduces its first line of PoE-automated window shades at the CEDIA Expo 2019.

“PoE technology has already been bringing fast, convenient power to a number of other smart home products, including VoIP phones, IP cameras and other automated devices,” PowerShades president Jason Turner says.
“We felt that our customised, easy-to-operate, automated window treatments were a natural fit for utilising the streamlined power of PoE technology.”
A single-run of CAT5 cables provides both power and communication and by using a single network cable, there is no proprietary hard wiring necessary.
Since the voltage in the PoE motor is quite low (50V), it doesn’t require a licensed electrician or special certifications which reduces installation expenses and time.
With the power coming from a single, central source, more information can be transferred on the network cable while improving reliability over traditional RF solutions.
By featuring PoE automation, users can connect the shades to their smart phone, tablet or PC to control the shades from anywhere in the world. Additionally, the shades can be included in automated scenes and schedules.
Customers will have the option of adding a PoE motor to any of their PowerShades products which adds to the customisation of the range as they can choose from a wide variety of fabrics, power options and styles, including roller, pleated, and honeycomb shades, horizontal blinds and more.
