The systems have enhanced networking and storage capabilities, thanks to the new Smart Link with Tablet feature and compatibility with external hard disk drives.

The new range includes the new 3D DMR-BWT820 Blu-Ray Recorder with impressive 1TB HDD, the 3D DMR-BWT720 Blu-Ray Recorder with 500GB HDD and also the versatile 3D DMR-PWT520 Blu-ray Disc Player with HDD recording capability, which also records onto a 500GB HDD.

Each of the new models features Panasonic’s enhanced VIERA Connect IPTV platform, which easily connects to popular social networking sites and services including YouTube, Facebook and Twitter and offers Skype functionality; as well as Yahoo!7’s PLUS7 and ABC iView.

Users can take advantage of the full potential of the twin tuners on the DMR-BWT820 and DMR-BWT720 using the Smart Link function. This allows them to watch one channel via their TV and send another recorded program or live broadcast wirelessly to an Android Tablet, iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, and then watch this content wherever they choose in the home.

With built-in wireless capability and DLNA server/client functionality, the new models can act as a hub allowing the user to stream content such as images, music and movies wirelessly for viewing on other DLNA-compatible devices in the home; as well as receiving content from the home PC.

Panasonic Australia product marketing manager, audio Anthony Smyth says, “This year’s range of Panasonic Blu-ray Recorders sets the benchmark for convenient and innovative networking in the home – allowing viewers to stream live TV and recorded content to their tablet devices with the new Smart Link function.

“Furthermore, with the ability to expand or back up the contents of your hard drive to an external HDD, this new range offers fantastic archiving capability as well as the superior image, sound and easy-to-use operating features Australian consumers have come to expect from a Panasonic Blu-ray device.”

The company has also announced the availability of the DMR-XW390 DVD Recorder with an increased 500GB HDD and twin HD tuners, allowing users to record two High Definition broadcasts at the same time.
