panasonic-nextgenbdpThe Panasonic DMR-BWT740 Blu-Ray Recorder, the DMR-XW440 DVD Recorder and the DMR-PWT540 Blu-Ray Disc Player with HDD now offer HbbTV version 1.5 compatibility. This functionality is also available on the company’s recently released DMR-BWT945 Triple Tuner Blu-ray Recorder.

All consumers who have their current Panasonic Recorder connected to the Internet will have received the upgrade automatically from 10 November 2014.

HbbTV enabled products provide consumers with access to Australia’s Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV (HbbTV) services as provided by terrestrial broadcasters, when they are connected to the Internet.

Panasonic Consumer Electronics Group Director, Richard Tassone says, “This upgrade is very convenient for users, as they don’t need a HbbTV-compatible TV to access the platform, just their current Panasonic Recorder.”
