The new MX5102 gives home theatre owners the peace of mind of knowing that in case of undervoltage or overvoltage conditions their connected equipment will be protected from damage, and in the event of a power failure, powered down correctly.

Offered as a standalone product or as part of a rackmount solution, the MX5102 provides power management features such as linear filtration and surge protection as well as supplying UPS functionality through two of its 10 outlets. The MX5102 prevents critical equipment from losing its setup configuration and stored data, while avoiding hard-disk crashes in the event of a sustained power event, such as a power outage.

In addition, the MX5102 safeguards projection bulbs by allowing them to cool down properly before shutting off, saving money on replacement costs. An RS232 serial communication port provides connection and communication between the UPS and an HTPC (home theatre personal computer) or home automation system.

“The combination of features offered by the MX5102 makes it an ideal choice for home theater systems, where it will allow customers to protect their investment with power management, surge protection, and compact UPS functions, all in a single unit,” said senior vice president of sales and marketing Dave Keller. “In addition to eliminating the need for separate units to handle these functions, the MX5102 will reduce replacement costs for equipment with sensitive shut-down sequences, such as costly DLP projector bulbs.”

The MX5102 features 10 surge-protected outlets, including two battery-powered outlets that ensure temporary uninterrupted operation of connected equipment during a power failure, while resettable circuit breakers provide optimal overload protection. The MX5102’s front panel offers an intuitive menu navigation system and LCD status display that monitors the incoming line voltage and displays battery time remaining in case of a power loss.
