While not yet available in Australia, Panamax has released the first product in its new line of UPS battery back-ups – the MB1000.

For home theatre systems, the MB1000 prevents critical equipment from losing its setup configuration and stored data, while avoiding hard-disk crashes in the event of a sustained power event, such as a power outage. In addition, the UPS safeguards projection bulbs by allowing them to cool down properly before shutting off, saving money on replacement costs.

The MB1000’s Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) prevents home theatre equipment lock-ups due to power sags, while keeping connected components from heating up. The unit’s IR control protects projection equipment by allowing projection bulbs to go through a proper cool-down cycle before shutting off. An RS232 serial communication port provides connection and communication between the UPS and a HTPC (home theatre personal computer) or home automation system.

“We are pleased to introduce the first in our new line of UPS products that will be released throughout 2009,” says senior vice president of sales and marketing Dave Keller.

“With the MB1000, our customers can be confident that in the event of a power failure or other sustained power event, their valuable equipment will continue to operate and will be powered down correctly.

“In addition to improving overall system reliability, the MB1000 will reduce replacement costs for equipment with sensitive shut-down sequences, such as DLP projector bulbs.”

The UPS features eight battery-powered, surge protected, and AVR outlets (four non-critical-load outlets, and four critical-load outlets) that ensure temporary uninterrupted operation of connected equipment during a power failure, while resettable circuit breakers provide optimal overload protection.

The MB1000’s front panel offers an intuitive menu navigation system and LCD status display that monitors the incoming line voltage and displays battery time remaining in case of a power loss.
