Designed to seamlessly control both the Opus 500 system and a number of third party lighting and other smart home products the stunning WCU600 keypad is even able to display video from DVD, TV or CCTV systems and the on screen menus of audio/video servers, iPod docks and more.
The high contrast backlit hi-resolution colour screen can display a staggering 16 million colours and is fully customisable for individual use.

No ordinary Touchscreen keypad, this interface not only controls Opus 500 multi-room entertainment but also lighting systems from a wide range of leading manufacturers such as Lutron, Rako, Dynalite, iLight and Clipsal in addition to blinds, heating etc and firmly places Opus at the forefront of multi-room control. Third party home automation systems can be simply controlled via either IR or RS232 connections from the MCU/SCU hub so that ‘moods’ can be programmed and fully controlled from the WCU600 to set the ambiance for a dinner party or late night film. Over the coming months, even more control drivers will be developed with other third party manufacturers for control of more blinds and heating systems. Integration of other smart home systems through this new keypad not only simplifies operation for the user but also means less clutter and the end of ‘wall acne’ owing to numerous miss-matched controls.

The keypad is fully customisable thanks to a USB connection hidden under the faceplate on the front of the unit where it can be connected to a certified installer’s laptop enabling customisation for the end user. Proprietary Opus software enables icons, colours and other features to be tailored to an individual’s home. Here, a ‘living’ graphics database is constantly updated which is available to all Opus Certified Installers via a password protected extranet. This also has commercial uses with company logos and backgrounds being easily added for hotels etc.

Likewise for the user, day-to-day changes can easily be made by accessing menus and adjusting volume, bass, treble and balance. Party mode means the user can adjust the same music or video source across the home.

Video playback on a keypad at this price is practically unheard of and allows users to cue-up DVDs, browse iPod or music servers on screen, access their CCTV system and more.

A key benefit of the WCU600 is its compatibility with the jointly developed Opus/Imerge ‘HotSpot’ facility. This means the keypad is able to for instance fully display the MS5000 video server’s or S3000 music server’s on screen display and navigate around and control it seamlessly from the touchscreen*

The keypad itself connects to the Opus 500 system via an RJ45 plug to the standard DZM amplifiers and MCU hub and is fully backwards compatible with all existing Opus 500 systems. Self contained fixings for plasterboard, dry lining, chased solid walls and breeze block environments for simple installation come as standard and remove the need for a separate back box. An optional extra metal back box is also available if required for cast concrete walls, pre-wire contracts etc.

A wide range of flush magnetic simply interchangeable faceplates is available to suit any room setting and of course can be replaced at a later date should existing décor change. Colours available include, white, piano black, brushed metal, matt stainless, chrome, gold and brass with more to follow.
