The cornerstone of the Onkyo amplification concept – fine-tuned over the company’s 67 year history – is high current. High Current Power Supply (HCPS), combined with a suite of other advanced technologies such as Dolby Atmos, delivers more dynamic, engaging sound to bring AV enthusiasts closer to the art they love.

Designed to cater to a wider range of home cinema layouts, the three high-end releases include the 9.2 channel TX-NR1030 AV receiver as well as two 11.2 channel models, the TX-NR3030 AV receiver and PR-SC5530 AV controller. The new line-up allows users to maximise the full potential of a genuine cinema environment at home with the option of adding either in-ceiling or Dolby Atmos enabled speakers to an existing 5.2, 7.2 or 9.2 channel surround set-up.

All three models offer built-in Dolby Atmos – as the next-generation audio format – providing multidimensional sound for the most captivating user experience possible. Dolby Atmos allows specific sounds to be placed and moved anywhere within the room, with audio that can be heard from all directions including overhead. For example, users can hear the flutter of a butterfly’s wings from an arm’s length or the tremors of a volcano in the distance.

Other state-of-the-art audio features include DTS Neo:X. Providing the most comprehensive upmixing solution, it offers up to 11.1 channels of immersive sound to further enhance the Dolby Atmos effect.

Other elements of Emotion Delivered sound enable users to experience the extraordinary in the comfort of their home. As the most advanced AV products on the market, the new additions are compatible with the new HDCP 2.2 copy protection standard. This feature will become increasingly widespread in the coming years as Hollywood studios, satellite broadcasters and IPTV services have agreed to adopt this new copy protection feature for future 4K content as well as other premium studio releases.

The latest range supports 4K resolution at 60 frames per second (4K/60Hz). All three models are 3D-ready and can carry high resolution 3D video formats from source devices to 3D capable displays via HDMI.

The 2014 line-up has been meticulously tuned to deliver clear, full-bodied sound with a revealing mid-range and fast, punchy bass. Users are able to steer DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD soundtracks through multiple channels to fill rooms with impressive two-channel sound. Each of the new receivers also feature seven digital-to-analogue converters (DACs) by Burr-Brown – a known and trusted brand in the audiophile world – to further enhance the listening experience.

Onkyo’s new AV products are designed to be easy-to-use for novices and enthusiasts alike. Catering to today’s demand for an intuitive user experience – such as the need for greater wireless connectivity options – built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are included as standard features across the 2014 range.

The free Onkyo remote app for iOS and Android devices easily locates and streams network-attached high resolution tunes via the DLNA set-up. Users can enjoy streaming tracks from the remote app or through sources such as Spotify, Deezer and TuneIn from within the app. Users can also control various zones of the home via smartphone control.

In addition to wireless options, all new models have traditional, plug-in sources such as coaxial and USB ports to ensure all bases are covered. The new AV releases each have eight HDMI inputs and three outputs.

Other ease-of-use features include Onkyo’s proprietary AccuEQ calibration system. This ensures the surround sound is optimised to suit individual room acoustics and speaker set-ups for the best possible listening experience. Ideal for managing fluctuations in usage, the new AV receivers also use Onkyo’s custom high-current architecture, safeguarding an adequate reserve of power.
