The Diamond Vision OLED system uses an organic light emitting diode (OLED) as its light source, and is designed for indoor use to deliver seamless and vivid imagery. The screens are also equipped with Mitsubishi Electric’s newly developed video controlling technology.

The Diamond Vision OLED screens offer wide horizontal and vertical viewing angles capable of reaching approximately ±80 degrees, and feature a maximum brightness of 1,200cd/m² with twice the contrast of current LED displays. This allows for installation in relatively bright areas such as commercial facilities, stations and airports.

By connecting a number of standard modules, each measuring 384mm in height and width and weighing eight kilograms, the Diamond Vision OLED system is scalable and can be designed to flexibly form a specific size or shape, even against rounded surfaces. The screen’s 99mm depth enables it to be installed in limited spaces such as narrow paths and railway station concourses.

The product’s OLED system, jointly developed by Mitsubishi Electric and Tohoku Pioneer Corporation, creates light through a process of electro-luminescence (EL). Each pixel consists of an anode and cathode separated by a thin, organic membrane. Mitsubishi Electric has also made available an optional Digital Display Controller for the OLED screens – the XDC-600E, which features a number of image-enhancing technologies, as well as support for 1080P video sources.

The Diamond Vision OLED screens were showcased at the Mitsubishi Electric booth at CEATEC JAPAN 2010, from October 5-9, at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.
