McIntosh, distributed by Synergy Audio Visual, has released the CR106 six-zone preamplifier and audio matrix.

The preamplifier can be paired with McIntosh amplifiers and speakers for custom installations, creating a multi-room, high-performance distributed audio system with exceptional sound quality. The CR106 can be installed into a standard AV equipment rack and it requires 2U of rack space.

The CR106 is controlled by McIntosh’s Connect app that’s available on Apple and Android through a web interface or the front-panel knobs and buttons. Through the Connect app, users can turn zones on and off, name zones for easy identification, group zones together, select audio sources for individual zones and many more.

Source components like CD players, music streamers and tuners can be connected via the four unbalanced analogue inputs or the four digital inputs. For larger systems, up to five CR106 units can be linked together via the Dante network interface to create up to 30 distinct two-channel audio zones.
