Magenta’s Voyager fibre optic signal distribution platform is an interoperable set of transmitters, receivers, distribution amplifiers and matrix switchers which enable any end-to-end configuration for extension and switching of uncompressed multi-format video and audio, RS-232, IR and 480 Mbps USB 2.0 signals over fibre at distances up to 30km.

“With the high frequency of change in connection types and the ever increasing integration of High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) into AV installations, the unprecedented functionality, flexibility, performance and cost of the Voyager series truly makes it the future of AV extension and matrix switching,” Magenta Research president Bob Michaels says.

The FiberMax Engine is an ultra high-speed data sequencing and streaming engine capable of driving standard Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) optics at maximum efficiency.

The resulting benefit is the unique capability of simultaneously transmitting uncompressed 1920×1200 video with HDCP at 60Hz, USB 2.0 at 480Mbps, 8-Channel 24-bit DTS-HD Master Audio, bidirectional RS-232, IR and consumer electronic control found in Blu-ray players (CEC), all on industry standard SFP optics and cabling.

The distance range supported while transmitting all these signal types at their maximum performance is over 2km with multimode optics and 30km with singlemode optics.

While the core FiberMAX engine enables the Voyager platform to define a new price-performance curve for AV distribution over fibre, the new product range also delivers an unprecedented number of unique features with real life benefits. Magenta’s innovative Flex-VCA architecture allows each Voyager transmitter and receiver to support a wide variety of analogue and digital video formats through plug-and-play field interchangeable modules.
