UBEX

Lightware Visual Engineering has released two brand new development products; UBEX – Ultra Bandwidth Extender – and HDMI20-OPTC-TX/RX200-Pro, which acts as a fibre extender for the staging and rental market.

UBEX – Ultra Bandwidth Extender

The UBEX is a versatile networked AV extender which actually operates as a virtual matrix using a standard Ethernet switch as a crosspoint while also working as a normal point-to-point extender.

Each video signal is handled uncompressed and transmitted over 20Gbps optical links as well as being able to handle two full 4K signals at the same time over one 10Gbps optical link.

Optical modules are also included which are plug and play which makes them interchangeable by the user. There could be either duplex multi-mode/single-mode modules or bi-directional single-mode modules.

A primary advantage of the new product is the scalability as the number of I/O ports in a UBEX based virtual matrix purely depends on the size of the Ethernet switch used in the network.

The unit is also designed to work as a transmitter, receiver or transceiver with the change between these modes being easily implemented with a change in firmware. UBEX also supports operating in daisy chain mode which makes it suitable for large digital signage projects.

HDMI20-OPTC-TX/RX220-Pro

The HDMI 2.0 compatible extender pair for video, RS-232 and Gigabit Ethernet signals and supports uncompressed 4K UHD resolution at 60Hz 4:4:4. It is also particularly recommended for rental and staging applications, 4K live events as well as transmitting HDMI 2.0 signals with 18Gbps over one multimode fibre to a distance of up to 600m.

Through the factory, custom or transparent EDID emulation, each user can fix and lock EDID data on the HDMI connector. The EDID management forces the required resolution from any video source and fixes the output format conforming to the system requirements.

The device features Pixel Accurate Reclocking, a Lightware technology to eliminate jitter generated by low quality sources and multiple daisy-chained devices. Single fibre technology makes these units fully HDMI 2.0 and HDCP2.2 compliant even without a second fibre cable or copper connection.
